About PAF
Our mission fuels us. Our future calls us.
We are here to improve the lives of Pacific Americans with competence, integrity, humility, and aloha.
The Pacific American Foundation (PAF) is a Native Hawaiian-led nonprofit with 30 years of experience delivering culturally grounded, research-based learning and leadership solutions for Hawai‘i’s schools, organizations, and communities. Our work is anchored in the Nā Hopena A‘o (HĀ) framework and global best practices for sustainable systems change.
We partner with schools, complexes, agencies, nonprofits, and corporate teams to design and deliver professional learning, retreats, and community-based programs that build capacity, strengthen culture, and improve outcomes. Our 2030 Vision
In our journey to become good ancestors, we will secure our foundation through financial resilience, uplift indigenous perspectives through trusted partnerships, and model a regenerative relationship with ’āina at Waikalua Loko I’a, creating ripples of impact for the next generation and beyond.
Our world view is grounded in these ideas:
Moʻokūʻauhau
I ka wā ma mua, i ka wā ma: Hope in the time before, in the time after
- ‘ike kupuna, the wisdom of our ancestors, guides us forward
- We strive to become good ancestors to future generations
- Our work helps the current generation thrive
Makawalu
E nānā i ke kumu, e huli i ka makawalu: Look to the source, find the eighth
- Only through seeking to understand multiple perspectives can we truly understand who we are, how the world works and our place in it
- We actively seek to learn from ‘aina and each other
- We share knowledge
Hāloa
E ‘ohana hou the eternal unleashing of grace: of sharing our individual gifts with the world
-
Humankind and the environment are more than interdependent, we are kin
- ‘aina is all that which nurtures us
-
Like the kalo, we grow as an ohana
